This will probably only make sense if you decide to establish a fully automated District to which you only send golems: If you don’t tell such District Center “Make all new workplaces golem-operated,” then they will be empty, waiting for living beaver workers. This toggle determines the default beaver-vs-golem worker setting for all newly constructed buildings. Once you build your first golem, your District Center will change as well, adding a new toggle. The last option is of course “Unlocked” - few industries are available for golems immediately, others need to be unlocked.Science Points are used to unlock this, with the costs ranging from 100 SP for simple industries, all the way to 10’000 SP for the Golem Factory itself.

Once you unlock it for one building of a specific kind, ALL other buildings of that kind can be switched to golem workers (for no additional cost). The “Golem” portion can be locked with the red padlock, meaning you will first need to unlock the ability to employ golems in this type of building.This is the case with Inventors and Observatories. The “Golem” portion can be disabled entirely, meaning it is not possible for golems to work here.A newer colony should focus more on carrots, and then potatoes, before starting to produce wheat (a mix of all 3 is required to satisfy all of the various nutrition requirements). Wheat is fantastic as a long term food source, although it has a long grow time and supply chain. It does take 10 days to grow, so each plot yields 1.5 food per day, vs. Since 1 flour gives 5 bread, each square of wheat eventually produces 15 bread. For production, 1 square gives 3 wheat, and each wheat turns into a flour. The maximum efficiency for food per plot will come from wheat. The flour then needs to be baked into bread at a Bakery, which needs planks and gears to construct, but only logs and a worker to operate. Pump's are fairly efficient so you can get away with 1 to start with. Roughly you want twice the amount of water storage you have beavers. To produce wheat flour, each wheat needs to be first ground at a Gristmill, which requires 60 power, a worker to operate, and planks and gears to construct. 3) Water 2 - And in the same vein - build water storage, the ratio is 1 beaver, 2 water per day from available sources. The final variety of food grown from a farmhouse is wheat. Grilled potatoes satisfy hunger and Nutrition 2. While each square is slightly less productive than it would be with carrots, potatoes have the advantage of letting fewer farmers maintain a larger field due to the longer growth time. Once processed, a potato gives 4 grilled potatoes, so its 6 days of growth yields 4 food per square.

A grill must be used to cook the potatoes before consumption logs are used in its operation along with raw potatoes, plus an additional worker to operate the grill itself.

Potatoes are the next kind of food that can be grown. Carrots satisfy hunger and carrot nutrition and sunflower seeds satisfy hunger along with sunflower seed nutrition. Carrot crops grow in 4 days and provide 3 carrots, while sunflowers grow in 5 days and provide 2 sunflower seeds. There are two foods that can be eaten raw: Carrots and Sunflower seeds. Farming allows access to the higher nutrition needs and allows a higher density of food production than berries do. While berries can feed a small colony, they don't have the output required to reasonably sustain a large population, nor do they satisfy the nutrition needs beyond base hunger. The farmhouse can plant and harvest either carrots, potatoes, wheat and/or sunflowers. Note: you will need to place markers to indicate crop type from the 'Plant Crops' menu (third icon from the left) We also rework the old farm to be aquatic.
